Karren,Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I'll try to keep this brief and cover the last 47 years. Is that possible? We returned from Germany in September of 1955. My stepfather was subsequently stationed at Ft. Ord, California and because he had already been in the Army for twenty some years, he and my mother decided to buy a home in Salinas and retire there when he shortly retired from the service. I attended, half heartedly, the local junior college for a year and a half and because of the impending draft probability decided along with three friends to join the Army and get it over with. Served three years, mostly in Frankfurt, Germany, and was discharged in December of 1959. Knocked around for a while, Oakland, San Francisco, and returned to Salinas in 1963, met a girl and married in 1964. We raised five children in Salinas, but agreed to disagree after twenty years and went our separate ways. During that twenty-year period we acquired four Laundromats and I found that I really liked being self-employed and have been ever since. Am still in the coin laundry business, now in Calaveras County, California along with a real estate career. Experienced a short marriage for 1987 to 1990, and have been single ever since. However, I've met my soul mate, Maureen. We've been together for seven years now. Whether we'll marry or not, we don't know. She's been married twice also, and we're both gun shy, but committed. We live together in my house, a beautiful 2000 sq. ft. mountain home on an acre at the 3400-foot elevation of the Sierra Nevada foothills. As they say, above the fog and below the heavy snow. We love our life here and look forward to growing old together.
