| After graduation from Munich in 55, I had two semesters at Sully's Prep before entering West Point with the class of 1960. Three weeks after graduating, I married Joan Scoville and went through a number of courses required for newly appointed Infantry lieutenants (Infantry Basic, Airborne, and Ranger). However, I soon learned it was more profitable to fly and land Army aircraft than it was jumping out of them at 1,250 ft., so I went to flight school. Over the next 22 years I had numerous Army assignments world wide, to include two expense paid years in South Vietnam. During this same 22 years plus a few, Joan and I (mostly Joan) raised four wonderful children. I can safely say wonderful at this time because they are all grown and raising kids of their own. Actually, Lisa has two girls and two boys, Dana a girl, Chris one on the way, and Kevin not yet married, but he likes kids. Lisa's husband (Rick) is a corporate VP in Northern Virginia, Dana's husband (Jim) is a detective with one of the seven federal police agencies in the District of Columbia, and Chris' wife (Karen) is a manager with Fannie Mae (not the candy maker) in Denver. Kevin lives in Los Angeles, and is seriously planning to rejoin the working force so that he can return to the life style he developed while working for a high tech company. After 39 years working (22 years in the Army and 17 years in the corporate world with CACI and EDS) I retired in August 1999. Joan still works for Central Michigan University as a graduate school administrator. I would probably still be working if I had not been diagnosed with prostate cancer, on top of the Parkinson's Disease I have had for 10 years. But I get along except for my golf which will never be good again, but I do have a good wife who is my best friend, too. We are now working on the second 41 years of married life. Jim Wiley |
